New partnership with Food for Life supports Civica’s commitment to supporting the transformation of food culture in schools across England.
Civica, a global leader in software for public services, has agreed a new partnership with Food for Life, a Soil Association programme. The company will sponsor Food for Life Served Here’s impact report, due in Autumn 2021.
Aligned by their commitment to sustainable food sourcing and standards in education and healthcare catering, the two organisations are also planning a series of joint marketing initiatives throughout 2021.
Food for Life works with schools, nurseries, hospitals and care homes to help make good food the easy choice for everyone - reconnecting people with where their food comes from, teaching them how it’s grown and cooked, and championing the importance of well-sourced ingredients. It also runs Food for Life Served Here - a certification scheme for meals and the Green Kitchen Standard Award, focusing on water, energy and waste reduction in kitchens.
Civica’s cloud software, which includes Saffron catering management software, CivicaPay Education parental payment portal and Civica Cashless, provides an end-to-end solution which helps the same audiences to improve efficiency, visibility and safety across their catering operations.
Simon MacDowall, Divisional MD at Civica, said:
We’re delighted to be partnering with Food for Life, which continues to do great work to help improve standards across education and healthcare catering. There are clear synergies between our common values and our joint commitment to reducing food waste and driving sustainable procurement.
Civica will be sole sponsors of Food for Life’s Impact Report, which will look at what it takes to achieve the standards set in its certification scheme. We’re also looking forward to working together on a series of activities to help our customers overcome their challenges relating to issues including food waste, sourcing, procurement and catering management.”
Caron Longden, Development Lead Food for Life Served Here and Green Kitchen Standard said:
Food for Life positively influences the way food is produced, purchased, and eaten by helping organisations to meet the Food for Life Served Here (FFLSH) and Green Kitchen Standard (GKS) criteria. We reward caterers for using locally sourced and ethical ingredients, that support our local economy and protect the environment for the future. Our aim is to ensure that the £2.4 billion spent on public sector catering each year is promoting human and planetary health.
By sponsoring the Food for Life Served Here Impact report, Civica is enabling us to showcase the positive outcomes for climate, nature and health created by FFLSH & GKS, thus increasing the impact of our work.”
