GDPR: Ready or not... here it comes
With the imminent arrival of GDPR, organisations need to adapt processes and technology to minimise the risk and avoid significant fines. How ready are you?
The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into force on 25 May 2018, with new responsibilities, more stringent enforcement and substantially increased penalties than the current Data Protection Act (DPA) which it will supersede.
GDPR will impact every organisation serving citizens or customers in the EU (something that will not be affected by the UK’s decision to leave). It will introduce a variety of new rules including the need to demonstrate compliance with increased fines of up to €20m or 4% of annual worldwide turnover.
The imminent arrival of GDPR is forcing organisations across the UK to quickly get to grips with what, where and how they are using personal data, in order to avoid costly fines and damaging the trust of their customers and citizens.
Despite the fast approaching deadline, organisations can still act to ensure they are GDPR compliant by 25th May 2018. How? With the right guidance, organisations can act quickly and pragmatically to identify the steps required for GPDR.
