WanStaX Application Framework

Our WanStaX Application Framework is a market ready, richly featured, extensible control plane software solution specifically designed for the Microsemi WinPath network processor family.

Through the WanStaX Application Framework ‘out of the box’ feature set, customers can have the key aspects of a software solution built and demonstrable literally in days. Our WanStaX Application Framework allows customers to focus on the ‘business logic’ of their solutions rather than the intricacies of configuring WinPath.

WanStaX G.fast

Our WanStaX G.fast package provides all the software components required by equipment manufacturers to support the functional requirements of an FTTdp G.fast DPU. WanStaX G.fast has been designed to run on the Sckipio DP3016 EVMs utilising the Microsemi WP3-SL NPU to provide the power and flexibility required by G.fast DPUs.

Sckipio’s SCK3001 G.fast Distribution Point Unit chipset provides the highest performing G.fast technology on the market. The SCK3001 supports 4 active ports and internal distributed vectoring architecture.

The distributed vectoring allows multiple chips to be combined together to support higher port count DPUs. The Sckipio G.fast technology provides the fastest rates over the furthest distances in the market today.

WanStaX supports a state of the art network management platform with support for NETCONF with the G.Fast YANG. The combination of NETCONF and OpenFlow support provides a 21st century “open” solution for OEMs and Operators - complying with the Broadband Forum G.fast management specifications (WT-301, WT-318/355 drafts).

WanStaX OpenFlow

Software Defined Networking (SDN) is an emerging network architecture where network control is decoupled from forwarding and is directly programmable. The flexibility and high throughput of Microsemi’s WinPath Network processor portfolio makes it an ideal technology choice for network elements that customers need to be ‘SDN Ready’.

Our WanStaX software portfolio includes the necessary features to support OpenFlow-based forwarding, in parallel with ‘traditional’ network architectures which makes it easy for enterprises and carriers to progressively introduce OpenFlow based SDN technologies when WanStaX is deployed.

WanStaX Carrier Ethernet

Our WanStaX Carrier Ethernet is a portfolio of market ready, rich featured, Carrier Ethernet control stack solutions that incorporate Link Aggregation, Link OAM, CFM and Performance Monitoring.

WanStaX Carrier Ethernet components are specifically designed for the Microsemi WinPath network processor family.

WanStaX Network Interface

Our WanStaX Network Interface Device (NID) packages provide all the software equipment manufacturers need to support all the functional requirements for MEF transport and service NIDs.

Our portfolio has been designed to run on all Microsemi WDS3 and WDS4 reference hardware platforms utilising the flexibility and power of the WinPath.

Using the OpenFlow interface it is possible to extend the functionality of the solution to support standard layer 3 link state and distance vector routing protocols. WanStaX optionally contains a micro OpenFlow controller that runs on the target board providing support for OSPF, RIP, BGP, ISIS and LDP via the Quagga networking routing software suite.

WanStaX Timing and Synchronisation Control

Ethernet is now the preferred transport technology in the wide area network (WAN) arena, which has been historically dominated by synchronous SONET/SDH technologies.

This brings about a requirement for mechanisms for frequency synchronization over Ethernet packet networks to facilitate the interoperability of carrier Ethernet and legacy synchronous networks.

Our WanStaX portfolio includes both industry standard mechanisms for distributing synchronisation over packet networks – namely IEEE 1588 and Synchronous Ethernet. Both timing control technologies are available for immediate use pre-integrated with Microsemi’s WinPath Network Processor Portfolio.
