I strongly welcome the NHS Productivity Plan and the £3.4 billion earmarked for digital transformation, including digitally enabled prevention and early intervention services. The £430 million investment to digitally transform access to vital services, together with the commitment to ensure all NHS Trusts have Electronic Patient Records by March 2026, is great news for both patients and healthcare professionals across the country.
I’m also deeply encouraged to see that an additional £1 billion will be invested to transform the use of data in the NHS. Across health and care, and our public services more widely, we’ve got a wealth of data which, if harnessed to its full potential, could deliver a game-changing experience for citizens.
From the £14 million allocated for public sector research and innovation, to investment in AI across local government, the Chancellor’s Spring Budget signals a clear recognition of the crucial role that digital technologies are playing to transform public services for citizens.
