Management and development agreement for the National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme (NDORS)

Civica, a global leader in software for public services, has signed a new four-year agreement with UK Road Offender Education (UKROEd) to manage its DORS+ portal and support ongoing development via data, cloud software and digital innovation.

The DORS+ platform is UKROEd’s technology platform to support its vision to improve road safety for the benefit of all UK citizens.

A long-standing Civica customer, UKROEd is a not-for-profit organisation which conducts the management and administration of the National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme (NDORS) on behalf of the UK Police Service.

Initially developed by Civica, the cloud DORS+ platform includes a bespoke integration and data hub that brings together police, training providers and members of the public who need to access driver training. Civica will continue to work with UKROEd to maintain and support the platform, as well as ongoing development and enhancement, and security of all data and technology assets.

With up to two million people accessing the platform and booking courses across the UK every year, the DORS+ portal allows police forces to register those in need of training and the public to arrange training sessions. Providers can list available courses and manage attendance and UKROEd’s assessors can manage the service effectively.

Commenting on the contract announcement, awarded via the competitive OJEU1 process, UKROEd chief executive Ruth Purdie said: “This contract represents the next stage in a long and successful relationship we have had with Civica, and we look forward to working with them in the years to come.

“There are now a number of priority tasks for us. These include reviewing the course booking system and ensure it is made as simple as possible for members of the public to book the course they wish to attend. We will also look at how we can use data from the system to assist our teams and academic advisers to improve the positive impact our courses have in helping to reduce reoffending.”

Sean Massey, managing director, Digital at Civica, commented: “We’re pleased to have been chosen to continue our work with UKROEd to provide support and digital development for the DORS+ portal, ensuring that it continues to reliably support the two million plus people who access its services annually. We’re proud to partner with UKROED as it continues its mission to educate drivers who commit road traffic offences across the UK with a programme of improved cloud and responsive digital services.”

Due to the current coronavirus situation, all UKROEd classroom courses have been temporarily replaced by digital classroom courses until early August.
