Town of Victoria Park and Goulburn Mulwaree councils choose Civica as a library management partner of choice as they migrate to the cloud with Spydus10

Sydney, January 25, 2019: Civica is pleased to announce that Goulburn Mulwaree, New South Wales and the Town of Victoria Park, Perth are the latest councils to join the Spydus community.  This kicks off a  very exciting year for Civica’s Library division and reflects the current landscape of library service delivery, which focuses on cloud-based, customer-centric library management solutions to meet the changing needs of library users.

Both Goulburn Mulwaree and the Town of Victoria Park library services are passionate about promoting reading and lifelong learning within their communities, so were looking to provide their customers with better access to information. They chose Civica’s software-as-a-service (SaaS) Spydus library system after an in-depth review of their existing systems and processes.

To improve operations and services the Town of Victoria Park wished to migrate to a modern cloud-based library management solution in addition to a single RFID platform across the Town’s facilities. Anthony Vuleta, Chief Executive Officer, the Town of Victoria Park, says that they were happy to partner with Civica to transform their library service. He says: “We are delighted to be part of the Spydus community in WA. We chose Civica for its product [Spydus10], its extensive development roadmap as well as our interactions with the team.”

The Town of Victoria Park library plans to use all core modules and the Spydus app to enable library customers to access library resources simply and at any time. Goulburn Mulwaree library will also implement Spydus with its key modules to further streamline their operations and improve service delivery through Spydus’ intuitive and easy to use interface. The Council will enter into a consortium arrangement with the neighbouring Upper Lachlan Shire Council, which will enable both communities to benefit from the new system.

Erin Williams, Library Manager, says that they are also looking forward to being part of the SPUN (Spydus User Network) community and seeing the huge benefits that Spydus will have for their library staff and their community. Erin said: “Goulburn Mulwaree Council sees the library as key to supporting community engagement, and with Spydus we will be able to reach and manage a wider audience and resources, especially with our arrangement with Upper Lachlan Shire Council.”

Simon Jones, Managing Director, Libraries and Education Solutions at Civica welcomed the two councils, saying that it ended another solid year for Spydus and was a reflection of a strong product and team. He says:  “Through my interactions this year with librarians from around Australia and our Changing Landscapes research projects it is clear that libraries are at the heart of many communities.

“Spydus, our innovative library solution, focuses firmly on the needs of library customers and we’ve had great success throughout Australia, adding more than 10 new councils as Spydus customers in the last 12 months.  This result reflects the hard work and dedication our team have in providing the best experience for our customers in both software and support.

“I’d like to thank our customers for their continued support and I’m looking forward to a great 2019.
