Ipswich City Council chooses Civica’s Spydus10 to transform library service delivery

Ipswich City Council was looking for a robust, integrated library management system (LMS) which will support their agenda for transforming library services delivery to the community.

  • Spydus10 to improve scope and level of service delivery.
  • Leverages modern technology to enable Council to become a more sophisticated user of current and emerging technologies.

Brisbane, October 26, 2017: Civica, a  leading global supplier of critical software applications, digital solutions and outsourcing services that help transform the way organisations work, has announced that Ipswich City Council has chosen Spydus10 for all its libraries across the City. The City of Ipswich, which boasts the youngest population demographic in Australia has been planning a complete system overhaul for some time. Some of their primary objectives include meeting the needs of its audience and supporting its Advance Ipswich Strategy 2015 plan. In summary, they were looking for a solution which could help them transform their library service delivery to the community.

Spydus10 is a market leading, web-based integrated LMS that transforms Australian libraries into digital community spaces where anyone can access, explore, share and create digital content. Its unique approach to consortia ensures that each and every library maintains its unique identity while being a part of a larger shared service.

Spydus10’s single repository, discovery layer, and simple search ensure that searches are quick. The recommendations engine, a key feature of Spydus10, offers suggestions to library users, based on their unique profile, making sure they don’t waste time while searching content. The web-based and mobile responsive interface ensures that the library staff can access information anytime, anywhere and from a variety of devices offering greater flexibility. An upgraded electronic resource management module helps manage the library’s electronic resources and databases in one repository, simplifying lifecycle management of its resources and services.

The Ipswich City Council chose Spydus10 after a formal tender process which comprehensively evaluated a number of library systems on the market. Matt Pascoe, Business Services Manager, Ipswich City Council said: “We are very excited to be able to offer our customers a better standard of service and engagement with Spydus. We look forward to working with Civica to continue our commitment to delivering the best library services to the people of Ipswich.”

Speaking to delegates at the Spydus Users Network (SPUN) conference in Brisbane today, Simon Jones, Managing Director for Civica Library & Education Solutions said:  “We are delighted to have a new library service in the state of Queensland. Ipswich has the youngest population demographic in Australia, so an LMS that leverages modern technologies to continue their ongoing program of transformation is perfect for their needs. The features offered by Spydus10 ensure Civica offers the best service to our customers, and in turn enables them to improve service delivery to their patrons.”
