Civica broadens management team and invests for growth in APAC

Ben Cowling now Executive Director for ANZ and Richard Fiddis Executive Director in Asia, in charge of growing and expanding operations across the region

SYDNEY, 8 October 2019: Civica, a global leader in cloud software for public services, has announced a series of changes to strengthen its leadership team in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). Ben Cowling, previously Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director, local and state government solutions, has been appointed to Executive Director of Civica ANZ, to focus on delivering local growth across the region. He takes over responsibility from Richard Fiddis, formerly Executive Director at Civica International, who has been appointed to the newly created role of Executive Director in Asia.

As Chief Operating Officer, Cowling has delivered continuous growth across Civica’s local operation and been involved in driving enterprise cloud solutions for the local government sector. He has also been successful in bringing Civica Group’s broader product suite into Australia, including Modern.Gov, a paperless meeting and governance solution, and Cx Housing, establishing a new business line supporting social housing.

“I’m excited to build on our current success as a market leader alongside our local leadership team, who have deep expertise and passion for the sectors we support,” Cowling says. “With our extensive suite of cloud products we will continue to support our customers by delivering innovative next-generation solutions.”

Fiddis, who joined Civica five years ago, has been key to improvements in employee and customer engagement, delivering significant growth in the region and supporting the acquisition of new businesses in ANZ. In his new role, he is charged with broadening Civica Group’s interests in Asia Pacific.

Simon Jones, formerly Managing Director for libraries & education solutions, has been appointed to Managing Director of local & state government solutions. He has been with Civica for more than 10 years and has been instrumental in expanding the business including a whole-of-state schools management solution for Department of Education South Australia.

Iain Finlayson, with Civica for 8 years, has been appointed to Managing Director for libraries & education solutions. Previously, he led Civica’s Central Services functions across the Asia Pacific and brings 20 years of education sector experience to the role.

Corrine Murphy joins Civica as Director of Central Services. She has more than 25 years of experience across ANZ, Europe and Asia and has held roles at CSC and Unisys. She joins the regional leadership team and will help deliver best-in-class cloud and support platforms.

Fiddis says the changes will build on Civica’s successful growth across Asia Pacific, bringing increased value to customers through broader range of software applications.

He says, “Our business in Australia, New Zealand and Singapore generates a quarter of Group revenues. As we look to continue to grow next year and increase our opportunities to cross-sell products across multiple geographies, we will be strengthening our regional focus as one global business.”
