Global public sector software provider Civica says new elected government will play an important role in transforming public services.

BENJAMIN COWLING,

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – CIVICA APAC

The new ALP government has laid out an ambitious reform agenda for the social housing, health & care sectors. The success of this agenda, however, will hinge on accelerating the pace of digital transformation across our public services. From hospitals to care homes to local libraries, digital technologies are already helping each of us to live better, safer, more connected lives.

By making smarter use of the data we already hold and deploying cutting edge technologies like AI and Machine Learning, we can go much further, faster. We can build public services which are more resilient, responsive and citizen-focused, and ensure we’re better able as a country to cope with whatever future challenges we may face.

Australia is already a trailblazer in digital technologies, but with the current tight employment market in IT, we need to see more federal and state government investment in the technology industry, and in particular upskilling to ensure we are nurturing the next generation of innovators. As a global provider of public sector software, we’re delighted to be helping public services across Australia and the wider APAC region on their digital journey.
