New cloud platform to transform revenues and benefits services across Norfolk

  • Civica’s Revenues and Benefits software will be implemented across both South Norfolk and Broadland District Councils, replacing multiple systems
  • Offering more joined-up self-service for 273,000+ residents and 10,000 businesses
  • New contract forms part of wider transformation programme across the Councils

South Norfolk and Broadland District Councils are set to transform services across Revenues and Benefits functions by implementing new cloud software from GovTech leader Civica.

A long-term technology partner at South Norfolk Council, Civica has agreed a new five-year contract to run all Revenues and Benefits services across the two Councils’ areas.

The two Councils’ staff have operated as one team since 2018, and the new technology will help manage the billing and collection of over £250m in local taxation and over £50m of benefit awards each financial year.

The Councils were looking for a single cloud platform to run across Revenues and Benefits to enable improved agile working and easy access to systems for all employees. Civica Revenues & Benefits will offer better resilience with customer support available 24/7 and improved security.

The platform will also support the Councils’ sustainability agenda, helping to reduce their carbon footprints and make greener decisions about future plans for their estates.

Residents in both districts will be able to self-serve via a new integrated portal at a time which suits them best: easy tasks such as change of address can be handled instantly, freeing up officers’ time to support customers with more complex enquiries.

South Norfolk and Broadland Council

The move to one Civica system offers us better resilience to operate truly as one team. This will ensure the same high quality customer service across both Councils, with the best outcomes for our customers and residents.

This is not simply a technology implementation, it’s about our whole approach as to how we deliver innovative cloud services both now and in the future.
