From complex to creative. Civica Learning transforms risk and compliance eLearning at Deloitte
Deloitte wanted to turn complex risk management and compliance information into modern and engaging digital learning experiences.
Deloitte is a multi-national professional services organisation that provides audit, consulting, financial advisory and tax related services.
To provide their staff with the best learning experiences, Deloitte needed the state-of-the-art features their existing global platform couldn’t supply.
In addition, as part of their risk management curriculum, Deloitte wanted to support their UK employees with a range of modern and engaging digital learning content.
“We selected Civica Learning (formerly Agylia) and mobile learning Apps to deliver modern and engaging learning experiences - such as mobile learning, microlearning and game-based learning, all accessed by 20,000 Deloitte staff across the UK and selected European countries” said Mat Tinker, Senior Learning Manager at Deloitte.
Civica Learning was easily integrated into Deloitte’s existing global LMS infrastructure. This enabled Deloitte to introduce and deliver new learning experiences quickly and cost effectively - without replacing their existing solution.
When a new staff member joins and is active on Deloitte’s global solution, a Civica Learning account is created automatically, so they can access the digital learning content they require from day one.
Using the Civica mobile learning Apps, Deloitte can provide their staff with continuous learning experiences and the freedom to access the content they need, wherever they are and whenever it suits them. With Deloitte employees traveling on a regular basis, whether for the daily commute or to visit clients, employees can download the mobile iOS and Android learning Apps, via Deloitte’s own enterprise App store.
Mat commented, “It’s important that we can give our staff access to learning and related materials, not only via their office desktop, but also on their tablet and mobile devices. With Civica Learning, they can download content, go offline and still access that content even without internet connectivity.”
Supporting the latest Experience API, Civica Learning enables all learning experiences to be tracked and reported on.
“Civica Learning has helped us to track and report on a wide range of activities, even those undertaken when a device is offline (using the mobile learning Apps) - when considering the important aspect of compliance, this ensures that we have a complete record of all learning,” said Mat.

“We also selected Civica as our learning content partner to deliver our risk management curriculum because of their ability to combine creativity with modern technical expertise,” said Mat.
Working closely with Deloitte’s subject matter experts, the Civica Learning team has combined modern instructional design concepts, custom-built media and graphics with the latest technical expertise, to create digital learning that has delivered advanced experiences to learners at Deloitte.
On Deloitte’s eLearning courses, Mat explained, “A number of our eLearning courses contain high-end videos that immerse learners in real-world scenarios. For one course, we wanted learners to be able to identify potential risks and threats in real time, as they worked through a number of scenarios.”
To achieve this, the Civica Learning team added interactive features, complete with time sensitive features. This rewards learners for interacting at the correct point, while demonstrating that learning objectives are understood clearly.
To create fun and inviting learning experiences, the team added elements of gamification to Deloitte’s eLearning courses.
“Civica Learning has helped us to deliver an engaging eLearning game that ensures our staff are well informed and up-to-date. The game immerses learners in real-world situations where they demonstrate their knowledge while travelling the globe, collecting various assets and avoiding pitfalls.” explained Mat.
“Due to the regulatory nature of the content, we’ve had some urgent requirements to update and deliver the content to our learners. The Civica learning team has always met the challenge and delivered on time,” Mat commented.
To achieve Deloitte’s learning objectives, the Deloitte and Civica teams have worked in partnership to turn complex risk management and compliance information into visually appealing, interactive and engaging eLearning content.
Since going live with Civica Learning, over 250,000 risk management and compliance related courses have been completed by Deloitte staff.
