Net zero
Civica is committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions across our global operations by 2040, reflecting our dedication to sustainable and responsible business practices.
To maintain momentum and demonstrate near-term accountability, we’ve also chosen to set interim carbon reduction targets for 2030/31, aligned with best practice and the Science Based Targets initiative’s (SBTi) near-term target setting methodology.
Civica’s carbon footprint includes both direct and indirect emissions resulting from our operations. These are categorised into three scopes:

Scope 1: Direct emissions from sources owned or controlled by Civica (e.g. company vehicles or on-site fuel combustion).

Scope 2: Indirect emissions from the generation of purchased energy, such as electricity used in our offices.

Scope 3: All other indirect emissions that occur as a result of our operations whilst not being directly owned or controlled by Civica, such as those from our supply chain, business travel and employee commuting.
We are guided by best-practice methodologies, including the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol to ensure accurate and transparent carbon reporting. Our calculations are based on a combination of activity data, spend data, industry-standard benchmarks and carbon conversion factors. ESG Report
Our global ESG report provides a transparent overview of the approach to sustainability at Civica and is prepared in accordance with the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) Sustainability Accounting Standard for the Software and IT Services Industry.
