Goth GirlGoth Girl and the Sinister Symphony

by Chris Riddell

I’m a big fan of Chris Riddell’s whimsical series about Ada Goth and this, the fourth instalment, is as brilliant as the rest. Lord Goth - Ada’s mysterious Father - is planning a music festival to be held in the grounds of the family’s stately home, Ghastly-Gorm Hall. Poor Ada has to try to make sure everything runs smoothly and as if she hasn’t got enough on her plate, her Grandmother arrives and decides it’s high time for her son to get married again…! Riddell’s distinctive illustrations match his quirky story perfectly and this, like the previous three, is packed full of literary, music and cultural references which adults will recognise, even if children don’t!
