Private health insurance claims transformed with Civica, Medibank and LanternPay digital solution

New cloud offering provides real-time approval on claim payments, improved customer experience and security, and greater transparency

Sydney, 21 September 2020: Civica, a global leader in software for public, health and regulated services, announced a landmark partnership with Medibank and payment platform LanternPay that will transform Private Health Insurance claims. The new cloud native claims platform built on the Civica Azure Cloud and using Civica Payment Gateway offers an improved customer experience, better security and reduced fraud, and is the first innovation of its type in claims platforms in 20 years.

Medibank is the first customer on the new platform which combines Civica’s digital platform for Private Health Insurance claims and processing with LanternPay to enable real time claims payments. Medibank customers will benefit from improved efficiency and reduced costs by removing paper pharmacy and ambulance claims.

The new cloud solution offers Medibank customers an improved user experience with instant claim decisions and a faster flow of funds to complete the transaction. It also enables funds organisations to communicate directly to members while submitting the claim and offers added security through tokens and encryption.

The Civica and LanternPay digital cloud solution provides a standardised option for pharmacies, centralising management processes and providing greater claim transparency and visibility, enabling outlets to create deeper connections with their customers. The platform also manages the fulfilment of prescription across selected pharmacies, launching with Amcal pharmacies around Australia.

Following the rollout to pharmacies other Health insurance funds and healthcare providers will be added to the platform to allow health fund members to make claims more easily at point of service.
