Transforming to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow

Following a decade of local government underfunding, many councils' public protection teams are struggling to balance cost-cutting objectives against the continued delivery of services that meet citizens' expectations and keep communities safe. In addition, they've also had to find a way to stay productive and efficient while working remotely during the pandemic.

We held a joint workshop with the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI) to discuss the challenges that inform trading standards officers work, and engaged with regulatory services advisor Carol Brown, to gain insights into the problems and opportunities for public protection teams in general.
