Hilton Birmingham Metropole, July 6th - 8th
Join us at LACA Main Event and School Food Show where we’ll be showcasing a joined-up solution for catering in schools on stand M40.
Our Saffron kitchen management software, Cashless catering solutions and CivicaPay parent payment options work together to provide provide local authorities and schools with a complete catering solution.
With on-going pressures on costs and sustainability, Civica’s solutions support food waste reduction including CO2 impacts, alongside promoting healthy eating, digital meal ordering and the management of safe, compliant catering operations.
Paperless kitchen management
Saffron provides an all-encompassing view of operations to drive efficiency, support compliance and enhance visibility. The software from Civica brings together all the individual elements of the catering operation in one central cloud repository, streamlining stock control, purchasing, menu engineering and cleaning/hygiene tasks including HACCP compliance.
E-procurement and local sourcing
Saffron’s Purchase to Pay (P2P) module automates and simplifies the procurement process, making it easier for both caterers and their suppliers – and saving up to 70% of the associated costs of a paper-based system in doing so.
Used by over 250 national and local suppliers, the platform gives school caterers the tools to manage stock levels and recipe costings more easily, automatically raise and place purchase orders and maximise their purchasing power. It offers integration for larger suppliers and buying groups with their own systems using Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), while enabling the same efficiency and cost saving benefits for local suppliers and artisanal producers using an online portal.
This means school caterers can exchange electronic orders seamlessly and process payments, whether working with a buying consortium or the local butcher - with no fee for smaller suppliers to trade electronically. This helps schools to drive initiatives such as Buy British, Buy Local from the PSC100 Group (of which Civica is a member) and the Soil Association’s Food for Life programme.
Supporting sustainability targets
Saffron also supports caterers on their net zero journey through a new carbon foot printing dataset. Users can easily calculate and report on CO2 values for individual ingredients and menu items, without any additional steps. It is the first time a catering management solution has integrated carbon values, eliminating the need for third party plug-ins.
The data can be displayed in Saffron’s Wellbeing Portal, a public-facing URL which shows nutritional information, allergen information and CO2 values to help students make safer and better food choices.
