Job description

We are looking an experienced Business Analyst to join our team. The primary purpose of the Business Analyst role is to ensure that requirements from customers are understood, detailed and documented. This role is primarily office based however travel to customer sites will be required to gather functional requirements in line with industry and Civica standards.

Business Analysts are required to gather and document requirements for software modifications ranging from large new module designs through to small one/two day modifications of existing products. An integral component of developing new and modifying existing software is to ensure that software modifications are adequately documented, communicated and knowledge transferred to the other business stakeholders, including Business Consultants, Support Staff and the Sales and Account Management teams.

Main responsibilities:

  • Gather functional software requirements to suit customer's business processes in line with proven and industry practice.

  • Attend Special Interest Groups and other client and industry forums to keep abreast of areas of strategic importance for customers to ensure our functional software requirements are in line with market trends and available technology.

  • Deliver Professional Business Analysis Services to maximise the use of Civica's Software applications.

  • Assist the development team with the modifications of existing software and creation of new applications.

  • Assist Project Management Team to develop Standard Project Plans to optimise project Quality and Commercial outcomes as required.

  • Assist with Project Delivery as required.

  • Assist with product demonstrations and tender responses. Primarily the Business Analysts assistance is limited to strategic sales involvement when the Product Demonstration team is unable to provide adequate coverage or level of detail to support the sales function.

  • Assist with the development of Training material, Service Definitions, Marketing material and other associated documentation.

Skills and Experience

  • Prior experience in a similar role.

  • Ability to liaise with customers to gather requirements and fulfill the function of an industry expert.

  • A high level of accountability in the delivery of Business Analysis Services, and the ability to foster and promote an ethic of quality and improvement consistent with a professional role.

  • Ability to deliver in line with agreed development plans.

  • Ability to use modern techniques (e.g. UML, Use Cases, User Stories, System Diagrams, etc.) to generate detailed functional / systems requirements and identity system boundaries, impact and limitations.

  • A quick learner with good attention to detail.

  • Strong people engagement ability.

  • Familiar with both agile and waterfall development methodologies.

  • Outstanding time management, prioritising, multi-tasking and organisational skills.
